World Updates in Microsoft Flight Simulator along with the Standard and Premium editions of the simulator include handcrafted airports. These airports are considered their own scenery items within the simulator, and as such, installing a scenery addon for an airport that is already handcrafted in the simulator will cause issues due to have two sceneries installed for the same airport.
The effects of this can differ depending on the airport, however, it may cause conflicts such as uneven terrain or duplicated buildings. To fix this issue, you will need to delete or disable the Asobo enhanced version of the scenery item you have installed. You can do this by performing the steps listed below, where sim-wings Munich has been used as an example, however, the same steps can be applied by simply substituting the airport name in each step.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020:
- From the Microsoft Flight Simulator main menu, select PROFILE from the top navigation bar, and then CONTENT MANAGER.
- In the search bar that appears, search for World Update XVIII. Hover over the World Update XVIII result and click the blue icon that appears to the right of the entry.
- Scroll and select EDDM MUNICH AIRPORT from the list, and click the delete button.
- The world update version of Munich will now be removed, leaving only sim-wings Munich installed. You may have to restart your simulator after this process to fix any remaining ground texture issues.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024:
- From the Microsoft Flight Simulator main menu, select Marketplace from the button options.
- Select My Library from the top navigation bar.
- Search for Munich in the search bar in the top right of the screen. Under the World Update XVIII: Germany, Austria, and Switzerland dropdown, select EDDM MUNICH AIRPORT, and then click the More Options button in the bottom right. Click Disable.
- The world update version of Munich will now be removed, leaving only sim-wings Munich installed. You may have to restart your simulator after this process to fix any remaining ground texture issues.
